Acting Course

Time flies! ✨ We’re already halfway through the Drama Bridge course, and on Sunday, October 20th, we wrapped up the first block.

It’s hard to believe that two months have passed so quickly, but looking back at the journey, I’m amazed at how much the group has accomplished in such a short time. For the last session, I chose to focus on touch, trust, and partnering, which felt like the perfect way to integrate everything we’ve been working on since the course began. These themes allowed the participants to tap into both their personal and collective growth, helping them deepen the skills they’ve been building over the past several weeks.

We started the session with exercises that emphasized physical connection—working with touch as a form of communication. Trust and physical contact can be incredibly powerful tools in theater, especially when it comes to building relationships on stage. It was fascinating to see how these simple exercises helped the participants become more attuned to their partners and the surrounding space. By exploring this form of non-verbal interaction, they were able to step out of their comfort zones and experience a new level of awareness and presence.

In addition to the physical work, the group also reflected on the mental and emotional aspects of performance. Over the past two months, we’ve dived into creative writing, body liberation, and working with space and energy, creating characters and atmosphere on the stage. All these skills came together in this session as participants. It was clear that they had grown more confident, open, and willing to experiment with their own creativity and playfulness of the moment.

Watching the participants engage so fully in the process was a joy. Their use of words like "fantasy," "freedom," "discovery," and "playfulness," “reconnection of body and mind” during our reflections was a reminder of the very essence of theater. After all, theater is the magic of these elements coming to life in one shared space, where we collectively create something that transcends everyday reality.

This block of the course has been about more than just developing acting techniques; it has been about creating a safe and supportive space where participants can explore themselves and their relationships with others. The sense of camaraderie that has grown within the group is palpable. I’ve watched them take risks, trust one another, and find new ways to express themselves, and that is what makes this process so special.

Moving forward, we will build on this foundation — digging deeper into character development, storytelling, and the art of improvisation. I can’t wait to see what unfolds in the next phase, as we continue to push boundaries, take creative risks, and explore new dimensions of theatre together.

This journey has been a reminder of why I started this project in the first place: to bring people together through the power of art and to create a space where creativity, connection, and growth can flourish. There’s still much more to come, and I look forward to sharing the next chapter of the Drama Bridge project with you all soon!
